Macramé looks intricate, but most beginner pieces rely on just two knots. This little wall hanging is a wonderful place to start.
You’ll need: a 12-inch wooden dowel, about 40 yards of 4 mm cotton cord, scissors, and a comb.
How to make it:
Cut 12 pieces of cord, each about 9 feet long.
Fold each piece in half and attach it to the dowel with a lark’s head knot: loop over the dowel and pull the ends through the loop.
Working in groups of four cords, tie a row of square knots across the dowel.
For the next row, skip the first two cords and tie square knots using two cords from neighboring groups. This alternating pattern forms a lovely net.
Continue for five or six rows, shaping a V by tying fewer knots in each row.
Trim the ends into a point and comb them out for a soft fringe.
